# Porfiriy Fedorin — Painting as an Inner Cosmology > Official website of Porfiriy Fedorin: works, series, exhibitions, archive, editions, and collector materials. The figures, beasts, saints, and guardians in these works do not appear as illustrations of myth, but as inhabitants of a world in which the sacred, the animal, and private imagination have not yet separated from one another. ## About the Artist Porfiriy Fedorin is an artist whose painting develops at the intersection of private mythology, sacred imagery, visionary freedom, and an almost archaic directness. His works are populated by saints, beasts, guardians, demons, and intermediary beings that feel at once deeply personal and drawn from an older, collective layer of imagination. At the center of his art is not the search for a striking style, but the persistent formation of an inner world: one in which the fantastic does not lead away from reality, but allows it to be seen more deeply, more darkly, and more precisely. ### Artist Statement "I am interested in the image that cannot be fully explained. Not the symbol as sign, but the figure as presence. Not plot, but the birth of a space in which a creature, beast, saint, or guardian begins to live by its own truth. I want the painting not simply to depict, but to arise as a world in itself — with its own silence, its own unease, its own inward necessity." ## Series - **Cosmogony**: A cycle about the making of a world — its figures, its guardians, and its inner architecture. In this series, painting is not a reflection of the world but a means of constructing it. The beings in these works do not merely inhabit the image — they participate in the creation of its laws. - **Illuminations**: A series of visionary appearances, revelatory forms, and the tension between light and secrecy. If in Cosmogony the world gathers itself, in Illuminations it flashes forth — built on the suddenness of the image, the moment when form appears with such inward conviction that it seems less invented than seen. - **Guardians**: Portraits of witness-beings, threshold figures of memory, vigilance, and uneasy protection. These guardian figures do not promise safety. They stand at the threshold. Their presence suggests not only protection, but vigilance, memory, and the tension between what is seen and what remains concealed. ## Key Works - **The Many-Eyed Guardian**, 2016, oil on canvas, 50x70 cm — The many-eyed condition here is neither decorative device nor fantastical excess. It operates as a form of extreme attention — almost supernatural, almost unbearable. Available on request. - **Teacher**, 2015, oil on canvas, 100x120 cm — A figure of inner verticality: not didactic, but concentrated; not rhetorical, but silent. The painting does not deliver a lesson — it becomes one. In collection. - **Xochipilli**, 2011, oil on canvas — Reveals Fedorin's openness to other mythologies and his ability to admit them into his own visual language without exoticizing or merely quoting them. Archive. - **Overcoming Gravity**, 2020, oil on canvas — The mythic figure acting as transition, release, and inward ascent. The painting does not depict an event; it makes one possible. Archive. - **Biotope**, 2019, oil on canvas — An organic environment as the birthplace of forms, creatures, and memory. Private collection. - **Night Diamond**, 2021, oil on canvas — A nocturnal guardian figure that embodies dual nature: precious radiance and hidden essence. Available on request. ## Exhibitions - 2021: "Illuminations" — Moscow. An exhibition in which the visionary dimension of Fedorin's painting appeared with particular fullness. Witness-figures, saints, beasts, guardians, and mythic scenes formed a field in which revelation and unease intensified one another. - 2015: "Cosmogony" — Saint Petersburg. One of the key projects of the early period, registering the artist's commitment to creating not isolated works but an entire world. ## Collector Access Limited edition prints, collector PDF portfolios, and private inquiries for original works are available through the website.
